Evaluating Lenses on Literature Assignments and Assessments in Clear Learning Center

Interactive Assignments and Assessments in Clear Learning Center offer students engaging, technology-enhanced learning experiences. While some tasks are fully auto-evaluated, others require manual evaluation by teachers to ensure a comprehensive assessment process

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY ASSIGNMENT WILL BE AUTO-EVALUATED?
Some Interactive Assignments and Assessments in Clear Learning Center are completely auto-evaluated while others require manual evaluation. To determine if the resource you are considering assigning is auto-evaluated, click the arrow in the top right corner of the activity tile. If the circled pencil icon appears in the expanded panel, the activity is auto-evaluated.

If the circled pencil icon does not appear (or if there is no arrow present in the top right corner), it indicates that the assignment will require partial or complete manual evaluation.

HOW DO I KNOW WHEN AN ASSIGNMENT NEEDS TO BE EVALUATED?

When an assignment needs to be evaluated, a red dot will appear in the drop down menu.

Select Assignments to open the Assignments page. Assignments that need evaluation will have a red dot in the Needs Evaluation column. The number inside the red dot indicates the number of student assignments that need evaluation.

Note: For auto-evaluated activities, this red dot will not appear. You can click on the activity name to review student scores and responses.

HOW DO I EVALUATE AN ASSIGNMENT?

1. Click on the name of the assignment that needs evaluation or on the red dot.

2. Scroll down to your list of students and select Evaluate next to the name of the student whose assignment you would like to score.

How Do I Score the Assignment?

There are three types of Lenses assignments in the CLC.

1. The auto scored assessment scores will appear on the Student Assignments page.  Click the score to view the student’s responses to the questions.  You can also view all student responses by clicking the See Student Responses button above the Student progress Grid on the top right corner of your screen.

2. Many assignments will simply appear as Done in the Student Assignment List.  You will see the Done button, the number of attempts and the Review button.  Click this button to look at the student’s work.

3. Several activities in each unit will be scored using a scoring guide.  The scoring guide is one line of the rubric for the unit.

To score one of these assignments, read through the student work.  Then, open the scoring guide by clicking on the button to the right of the activity name.

Close the guide.  Give the student a score by moving the circle along the line until you see the score description.  You can then provide written feedback below.  When you’re finished, you can either have the student keep working or record their final score.

Once you have given them a final score, click Submit Review.

Easily score another student's work by clicking the left arrow next to the student’s name in the upper right corner, then select another student from the list.

EVALUATE FROM PREVIEW MODE

Locate the assigned activity in your course and click Open.

Go to the Assignments list and click the name of the activity.  Use the three dots to open the actions menu. Then, click Preview.

From the preview, click the green Previewing button at the top of the frame. Then, click Switch to Review Mode. Continue scoring the activity as described above.
