Lenses on Literature uses a set of common Anchor Strategies in five key cognitive skill building areas:
Analysis
Comprehension
Vocabulary
Writing
Discussion
The purpose of using common Anchor Strategies is to provide teachers and students with transferable tools that they can use to engage with content in and out of the ELA discipline. Once these strategies are learned, they become automatic and attention can be focused solely on building the skills and knowledge embedded in each activity.
Anchor Strategies can be found in the Teacher Reference Materials section of the Navigation menu. Each strategy has its own card. Cards are organized by the cognitive skill building areas in alphabetical order. Each card contains a downloadable PDF with a step by step description of the strategy and an accompanying graphic organizer for students to fill out.
