Periodic Benchmark Reading Assessments

These are research-based assessments grounded in the Lexile® Framework for Reading, providing Lexile® measures as one indicator of students’ reading ability.
They’re designed to be administered multiple times throughout the year to track growth—and importantly, they’re meant to be used as part of the literacy system. That means they work alongside classroom observations, student work, and formative assessment data—to give a more complete picture of each student’s reading development.

Teachers can assign Periodic Benchmark Reading Assessments to their ELA students a three points during the school year to track Lexile® growth over time.  These assessments can be assigned to students & viewed in the Assignments Page.  The results will be tied to Lexile® measures.

In order to access Period Benchmark Reading Assessments, go to Assessments at the course level.

Click to open the page.

You will see the three Benchmark Assessments as well as a short guide to using them.
