Setting the Levels of Support

Lenses on Literature recognizes that students need varying types of support. With this in mind, the Lenses digital platform provides embedded scaffolding and differentiation through the Levels of Support: a tiered support system that teachers can assign at the individual student or group level based on assessment data, observation, and individual learning needs. 

Within the Levels of Support system, a selection of targeted, strategic support types are available across a set of assignable levels of intensity. The goal of each level is the same: aid all students in engaging with the same complex texts to complete the same grade-level tasks.

To support students in building and independently applying a unit’s focus skills, teachers should keep in mind that the goal is to provide the lightest level of support needed based on assessment and observational data.
