MATHia is designed to empower students to learn individually at their own pace with sophisticated AI technology that personalizes their learning experiences while giving you real-time insights to monitor their progress.
MATHbook and MATHia work in parallel to continuously support your learning goals. With MATHbook, teachers teach at the pace they choose to ensure students engage with 100% of the on grade-level standards within the school year. With MATHia, students work at their own pace as artificial intelligence provides the right amount of practice they need to master each skill. The Teacher's Implementation Guide makes recommendations on how to utilize MAThbook and MAThia together to maximize student learning.
We recognize that utilizing the MATHia software during the class day may not feel natural to all teachers. Use these tips to help connect Learning Individually in MATHia with Learning Together in MATHbook:
Intentionally plan to model a MATHia problem to match your lesson.
Print some of the MATHia problems to use during Learning Together.
Have students take notes about the modeled problem in their textbook.
Project and complete a problem from MATHia during Learning Together. Use the problem from MATHia to introduce a new topic in the textbook, preview a new unit, or reinforce concepts. Give students the opportunity to see the textbook and MATHia at the same time.
As you plan each MATHbook lesson, review the planning section “Connect the learning,” which highlights a portion of the self-paced MATHia sequence that relates to the lesson content and provides ideas for helping students make connections.
Make the format for Learning Individually and Learning Together similar (e.g., warm-up, student work time, and closure). Create and implement a MATHia lesson plan including a warm-up activity, individual and small group work time, and closure.
Use the MATHia question format on quizzes or other assignments.
Replace a traditional practice assignment with time to complete a MATHia workspace. Students who are working at the pace of the class will be completing a workspace aligned to the concept you are currently studying. Students who need additional support may be completing workspaces for pre-requisite skills. Students who are working at a faster pace may be working on more advanced workspaces. This provides the perfect opportunity to differentiate based on student needs.
Talk about the use of multiple representations both in MATHia and MATHbook.
In the classroom, create a word wall of key terms used in MATHia.
Use the same vocabulary from MATHia when working in MATHbook.
Use LiveLab notifications to address student needs in the moment and help those who are unable to master specific skills.
Use MATHia reports to help you create small groups for instructional and intervention purposes (Skills Report).
