MATHia is an adaptive learning software that individualizes and personalizes each student’s learning and assessment experience. The experience is tailored based on a student’s personalized learning needs. Problems are delivered based on what a student knows and doesn’t know yet, customizing the experience to be unique for each student.
Individualized practice doesn’t have to mean independent practice. Even when students are working on different prompts, there are still many ways in which they can support their classmates’ MATHia learning.
Use the Progress Report to group students according to their workspace progress. Grouping students in this way provides multiple opportunities for collaboration. A few examples are listed below.
Allow students who are working in the same workspace to collaborate and answer each other’s questions.
As a group begins a new workspace together, have a student lead the small group through the step-by-step example in a workspace.
Group students who have completed, but not mastered a workspace, into small groups of 2 or 3 students. Have them review the workspace together. When students return to review previously completed workspaces, they will see similar, but unique questions that re-assess their skills. Consider having students work from one computer so each student’s strengths contribute to the collaborative answer.
