This article walks you through the initial class setup process for Carnegie Learning when using the Schoology Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) integration. Please click through the links below to jump to that specific topic.
1. When viewing your Canvas section, you should see a “Carnegie Learning” app in your course options on the left side of the screen. Open that app to complete your initial class setup.

2. Select your Subject.

3. Next, select your “Primary Course”, which will determine the grade-level content for that Subject. You can also select “Additional Content” if you’d like to pull content from other grade-levels.

4. Lastly, hit “Next” to confirm your selections on the page pictured below.

1. Now that our class setup is completed, we can go back to Canvas. There are 2 ways for teachers to access their course materials from their Canvas section.

2. For guidance on using the Course Navigator menu, please see these articles from our Help Center:
1. Since the Course Navigator outlined above is View-Only, we will assign lessons/assignments to students via “+Assignments” in your Canvas Assignments tab.

2. This will open the same Course Navigator as before, but now with the option to “Select” each assignment. Hit “Select” to assign to your Canvas section.

3. Once you use Select to assign, you’ll be returned to your Canvas Assignment settings. You should now see a URL in the “Configure External Tool” window. Save and Publish the assignment to create a link for your class in the “Assignments” page and complete the assigning process.

4. To Edit the Graded/Ungraded status of the assignment, how many Points it’s worth, or other Canvas assignment settings, you can Edit that assignment in Canvas.

5. If the Assignment is set to be Graded, it will also appear automatically in your Canvas gradebook.

Once a student completes an assignment:
1. On the Assignments or Gradebook tab, click the Assignment name that you want to evaluate. This will prompt you to load a new window to view the assignment.

2. This will default to a “Preview” view. To switch to reviewing student work, click on the green “Preview” box in the top-middle, then select the purple “Review Mode”.

3. In Review mode, the class’s students and their grading status will appear on the right. Select a student’s name to view their submission and enter grading mode.

4. In Grading mode, view the student’s work on the left, and provide a score/feedback and set the assignment status on the right.

5. When done, select “Submit” to finalize your evaluation. Lastly, use the back arrow next to the student’s name to return to the student list and continue evaluating, or close the window to return to Canvas.
