Evaluating World Language Assignments and Assessments in Clear Learning Center

Interactive Assignments and Assessments in Clear Learning Center offer students engaging, technology-enhanced learning experiences. While some tasks are fully auto-evaluated, others require manual evaluation by teachers to ensure a comprehensive assessment process.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY ASSIGNMENT WILL BE AUTO-EVALUATED?

Some Interactive Assignments and Assessments in Clear Learning Center are completely auto-evaluated while others require manual evaluation. To determine if the resource you are considering assigning is auto-evaluated, click the arrow in the top right corner of the activity tile. If the circled pencil icon appears in the expanded panel, the activity is auto-evaluated.

If the circled pencil icon does not appear (or if there is no arrow present in the top right corner), it indicates that the assignment will require partial or complete manual evaluation.

HOW DO I KNOW WHEN AN ASSIGNMENT NEEDS TO BE EVALUATED?

Select Assignments to open the Assignments page. Assignments that need evaluation will have a red dot in the Needs Evaluation column. The number inside the red dot indicates the number of student assignments that need evaluation. 

Note: For auto-evaluated activities, this red dot will not appear. You can click on the activity name to review student scores and responses.

HOW DO I EVALUATE AN ASSIGNMENT?

1. Click on the name of the assignment that needs evaluation or on the red dot.

2. Scroll down to your list of students and select Evaluate next to the name of the student whose assignment you would like to score. 

The scoring process differs depending on the type of assignment you are evaluating.

eBook Activities

For assignments created from resources such as the Student Edition or Workbook:

• After you click Evaluate, you will see a purple panel on the right hand side.
• Review the student’s answers, then click on the attempt and input the score. 
  • Record final score locks the activity so that students are able to see their score but not edit their response.
  • Keep working records the score but allows students to resubmit the assignment.
• Click Submit review.

• Easily score another student's work by clicking the left arrow next to the student’s name in the upper right corner, then select another student from the list. 

Assessments

For assessments, such as tests:

• Computer-graded items will already be scored. Items needing evaluation will ask you to “Enter a score for this response.” Choose a score from the points provided. If a student completely skips a question that requires teacher evaluation, the system automatically assigns a score of zero. However, if the student answers even part of the question, it is available for the teacher to review and score.
• When you’ve completed your evaluation, select Submit Scores at the bottom of the page.

• Easily score another student's work by clicking Open Student List in the upper right corner.

EVALUATE FROM PREVIEW MODE
 

• You can also evaluate activities from the same screen you would use to preview them. There are two ways to preview an assigned activity:
  • Locate the assigned activity in your course and click Open.

• Click on the activity name in the Assignments list, and use the three dots to open the actions menu. Then, click Preview.

• From the preview, click the green Previewing button at the top of the frame. Then, click Switch to Review Mode. Continue scoring the activity as described above.
