Max Attempts for eBook Activities WL

eBook activities allow for multiple submissions by students. You can choose to give 1, 2, 3, 4, or unlimited attempts for an eBook assignment.

The default for Max Attempts is set at the class level, but you can make adjustments for individual classes or students while assigning the activities.

MAX ATTEMPTS EXPLAINED

  1. Max attempts is the number of times a student is able to answer and submit an eBook activity. Teachers can set this number to 1,2,3,4 or unlimited.

  1. When the student accesses an activity, they will see the number of attempts given for each activity in the activity window (e.g., Attempt 1 of 2, Attempt 2 of 3, etc).

  1. If an activity is auto-evaluated, after each attempt they will see their score (e.g., You answered 2 out of 6 correctly) and also see which questions they got incorrect. Students are then able to access the activity again depending on the number of attempts given.

  1. Once the number of attempts allowed by the teacher is reached, students may still access the activity again and it will now show to be in Practice Mode. These attempts are still recorded for the teacher to view, but the scores do not count.

  1. Once the student is in Practice Mode and submits the activity, they can see the full feedback available for the activity. Teacher-graded activities may also show suggested answers if available.

  1. If the teacher sets the max attempts for an activity to Unlimited, the activity window will show Attempt 1, etc.

  1.  When the student submits their answers, they will only see how many they answered correctly and which ones were incorrect. They will not see the full feedback at any point.

  2. Each attempt a student submits is recorded including a date/time stamp, as well as the score if it was an auto-evaluated activity. The highest score of the allowed attempts is recorded.

  3. All attempts are viewable by the teacher when evaluating a teacher-graded assignment or viewing the score for an auto-evaluated activity.
